I try in all my endeavours to work in conjunction with "mother nature"; to work with her not hurt her. In this I try to experience her challenges with the fullest exposure to the elements. The challenge is as much in the planning phase as in the expedition itself. It is in the preparation that I look at all the elements and the interaction with myself and my equipment; as if tasting the elements and sensing the rawness of the environment in advance of going into it all.
Each challenge is embodied in the way I choose to enter the environment; whether it be by a mix of means or, my preferred way, that of the solo world of the kayak.
Whilst doing what I do I also hope to use the events to raise money for children's charities. There seem to be so many charities for adults that I feel I want to help those that are starting out in life but having a tough time in the process. In a way the link with the charities makes me more determined to overcome whatever challenges come my way.
Over the years I have managed to raise funds for the following charities:
SPARKS Sports Aid Reserch for Kids.
Taste for Adventure Hereford.
Rainbow Children's Hospice.
Ty Hafon Children's Hospice.
